We were tasked with designing jojo Boutique’s an e-commerce shop back in 2012 when they were looking to expand into online alongside their successful shop in Sussex. In 2015 we were tasked with giving the site a freshen up to reflect modern design and UX conventions. We were tasked with updating their CMS to increase the ease of usability for back-end upload of products and to streamline and simplify the user’s journey.
With the planning process for both builds, we conducted research into many fashion e-commerce sites, playing particular attention to the brands which jojo’s would be selling. We used this research alongside e-commerce conventions to create a compelling user journey which would encourage purchase.
In 2015 when we updated the site, we used the data gathered over the previous 3 years to help guide us on ways to improve the site’s navigation, appearance & promotion. As we were changing CMS’ we made sure to pay close attention to content migration and how we would hand over the site to be used by jojo’s team members.
Throughout the design and development process of jojo’s site and to this date, we use tried & test SEO techniques to improve the site’s back-end and its content to ensure that it is well optimised. We have implemented E-commerce remarketing to engage re-engagement for existing customers through email campaigns and the shop regularly send their customers the latest offers and new product ranges.
We are currently running a mixture of PPC ads including Facebook & Google AdWords – we have set up and continually monitor Shopping Ads, Remarketing & Search Ads.
Design & UX
When designing the site’s aesthetics and user experience, it was imperative that a clean design was created in order to complement the products visuals to encourage purchase. We remapped the website’s structure for optimum product browsing and provided more areas for promotion and filtering products to improve the site’s overall user experience. Furthermore, we stripped out checkout to reduce the number of basket abandonments through encouraging users to follow through with their purchases.
